Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem – A Choral Masterpiece of Comfort and Hope

Stonehaven Chorus warmly invites you to a special evening of profound and uplifting music with a performance of Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, conducted by our new Musical Director, Lizzy Unsworth Wilson.

Among the most powerful and deeply human works in the choral repertoire, Brahms’ Requiem is unlike the traditional Latin setting of the Mass for the Dead. Drawing instead on German texts from the Lutheran Bible, it offers comfort and consolation for the living, speaking of hope, peace, and renewal. From the tender opening “Selig sind, die da Leid tragen” to the radiant assurance of the final movement, the music moves from reflection to joy with sweeping melodies and glowing choral sound.

This performance marks an exciting new chapter for Stonehaven Chorus under Lizzy’s direction, and we are delighted to share this landmark work as part of our continuing musical journey.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music that comforts the soul and celebrates the power of hope.
